Plymouth College

Plymouth College began educating pupils in 1877. Our campus, here in the heart of Britain’s Ocean City, has served both our local community and families from all over the world and often across generations.

We are proud of own history makers – our pupils who have made a difference in the world. Plymouth College has an extraordinary record for pupils attaining national, international and Olympic recognition.

Over two hundred pupils have competed on the world stage and in the Paris Olympics 2024, fifteen current or former pupils competed – we believe this is greater than any other UK school.

Our well established swim programme is known around the world and has produced world champions, Olympians and national champions. Alumni include Ben Proud, Ruta Meilutyte, Laura Stephens and Honey Osrin.

Tom Daley, Olympic diver, was a pupil here at Plymouth College. As were Henry Slade (England Rugby) and Dr Kerensa Bryson (Olympian, penthalete). International honours for fencing have also been achieved by numerous pupils including British Champion Ben Andrews.

Situated between the stunning Dartmoor National Park and the coast, Plymouth is a lively and safe city with a rich cultural heritage. Recognised as one of the greenest cities in the UK, it was recently voted the best place to live in the country (September 2024).

Home to a vibrant cultural scene and a proud maritime legacy, Plymouth boasts excellent theatres and leisure facilities, including the Plymouth Life Centre, a key focal point of our swim programme.

Boarding

Boarding at Plymouth College is a transformative experience that helps young people develop confidence, independence and resilience, preparing them for life beyond school.

At the heart of our boarding community are our welcoming boarding houses, where pupils enjoy a supportive family atmosphere and exceptional pastoral care. We offer a range of flexible boarding options to suit modern family life, including full boarding, weekly boarding and popular flexi-boarding arrangements.

Whether staying full-time or on an occasional basis, every boarder becomes part of a vibrant and inclusive community where they feel safe, supported and able to thrive.
