Boarding
Boarding is an integral part of life at Shiplake. Full, weekly and flexi-boarding, available from Year 9 and above, allows pupils to fully benefit from all the academic and co-curricular opportunities that we offer. With no 'daily commute', boarders can dedicate more time to academic and leisure pursuits. Our boarders join from many parts of Britain, with about 5% coming from overseas. Together they make up a busy and vibrant community, who are proud to call Shiplake College 'home'. Boarding is no longer seen as a momentous decision as the College provides the flexibility to satisfy individual family needs. Flexi-boarding and overnight stays are available from Year 9, giving parents and pupils the best of both worlds.

Shiplake has a wholly inclusive environment spanning all areas of College life. All pupils are valued regardless of academic prowess, artistic flair or sporting ability, with opportunities for all to join in and try new things.

Shiplake College
Shiplake College is an independent boarding and day school for 580 pupils aged 11 to 18. Now with girls and boys in Years 7 to 9 and the Sixth Form, as it continues its journey to be fully co-educational, there is a strong 40% of girls in each of these year groups. Flexi, weekly and full boarding is available from Year 9. Situated in 63 acres of beautiful Oxfordshire countryside near Henley-on-Thames, Shiplake offers an outstanding education based on small class sizes, excellent facilities and dedicated teaching staff. HM Forces personnel in receipt of the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA), only pay the equivalent of 10% of their full or weekly boarding fees (in addition to the CEA amount received). Members of the Armed Forces not in receipt of the CEA (including day/flexi pupils), receive 20% discount off their fees.
A Shiplake College education is transformational. We are a selective school, but welcome a broad range of academic abilities. What is far more important is the sort of person you are. And what excites us is the sort of person you can become.
A broad curriculum offers opportunities for all, while outstanding facilities provide an abundance of co-curricular activities – Shiplake provides a truly holistic education. Above all, rigour lies at the heart of everything we do and our focus is on adding value to every single pupil. Our fuel is ambition and aspiration, and the commitment to always seek improvement. This is a school in which the little things matter and from which great things can be achieved. It’s cool to care and try hard.
