RMS for Girls

We have proudly educated girls since 1788. Our history is long and distinguished, but our focus is firmly on the future, and we never stop questioning what skills and attributes young women need to thrive in the 21st century. This pursuit of innovation and excellence, combined with a relentless commitment to educating the whole person, is what defines an RMS education today.

Life at RMS is designed for and around our students, and their capacity to learn, lead, express themselves and build deep relationships with their friends never fails to impress us. Our academic vision is ambitious and innovative, and we are wholly committed to the pursuit of excellence. Through our broad and exciting co-curricular programme, we provide ample opportunity for girls to explore their passions and find their niche. Most importantly of all, we provide exceptional, pupil-centric pastoral care. RMS is a genuinely kind school; one that understands life isn’t always easy.

So who is an RMS girl? The girls who thrive here are enthusiastic and get stuck in. They are active learners who readily hone their talents and they are resilient and warm-hearted; characterised by integrity rather than entitlement. It would be unfair to expect all of this from the off, but with the support of our experienced, dedicated and kind staff, they will become young women that we are all proud of.

Trips

Students in all year groups are offered countless opportunities for travel, both in the UK and overseas. Trips have recently included exchanges in Asia and Canada, European language trips, Geography and Science trips to Iceland, Mexico and Indonesia, History trips to Vietnam and Germany, and Arts trips to the USA and Spain. We also support and raise money for a school in Ghana, and students travel here frequently to help at the school, and to see for themselves where the money they have raised is being spent. Experiences such as these help to make our pupils more aware of their place in the world, and to appreciate the value of diversity and difference.

Sport

Sport is an important aspect of life at RMS. All pupils are encouraged to participate and to improve their performance, no matter what their starting point may be, and success at every level is celebrated. We are fortunate to have an enviable array of facilities, including an all-weather pitch, 6-hole golf course, sports hall, fitness suite and indoor swimming pool, as well as 300 acres of parkland to explore.

We field competitive teams in Football, Netball, Hockey, Swimming, Gymnastics, Tennis, Cricket, Rounders and Athletics, and also have links with local sports clubs to support pupils interested in Foil Fencing, Golf, Badminton, Kickboxing, Skiing and Sailing.
