The co-curricular programme at Eastbourne College offers award-winning opportunities across sports, creative arts, and leadership, utilising its coastal location for activities like sailing and windsurfing alongside traditional team games. Backed by a Platinum Artsmark Award, pupils participate in high-caliber drama, music, a thriving Combined Cadet Force (CCF), and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Because the school excludes academic lessons from Saturday mornings, the schedule creates a dedicated, flexible weekend for competitive fixtures, creative rehearsals, and outdoor adventures.

Eastbourne College

Founded in 1867, Eastbourne College is a forward-thinking, co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 13 to 18, situated on England's sunny south coast next to the South Downs National Park.

The school famously utilises its seaside location to promote "blue health" and pupil well-being, while pioneering a modern schedule that replaces traditional Saturday morning lessons with a flexible weekend of sports, arts, and family time.

With an inclusive Church of England ethos and a unique house system that fully integrates day pupils with boarders for evening study and meals, the college fosters a kind, tightly knit community.

Despite being only moderately selective, its highly personalised academic approach consistently drives students to achieve top-tier GCSE and A-Level results, successfully preparing them for Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.

Boarding

Eastbourne College offers a modern, family-friendly boarding model across 9 dedicated houses (5 for boys, 4 for girls) that house a balanced mix of full, weekly, and flexi-boarders.

The school famously breaks from rigid traditions by eliminating Saturday morning lessons, allowing boarders the freedom to head home for the weekend after their sports fixtures or stay on campus for a vibrant weekend social programme.

A standout feature is the total integration of day pupils into the boarding houses; every day student is assigned a permanent desk within a house, eats meals alongside the boarders, and can remain on campus for supervised evening prep until 9:00 PM. This creates a deeply inclusive, supportive family environment overseen by resident housemasters, housemistresses, and matrons who prioritise pupil well-being and a healthy academic-life balance.
