Boarding
Boarding is a central and well-established part of life at Caldicott, offering boys a supportive and structured environment in which to grow in confidence and independence. The school provides full, weekly and flexible boarding options, allowing families to choose arrangements that best suit their needs. Boarding houses are overseen by experienced houseparents and pastoral staff who ensure each boy feels safe, valued and part of a close-knit community.

Caldicott is a prestigious independent preparatory school for boys aged 7 to 13, set within 40 acres of parkland in Buckinghamshire. Known for its academic rigour and 100% success rate in Common Entrance exams, it serves as a primary feeder to elite senior schools like Eton, Harrow, and Winchester. Under the leadership of Headmaster Jeremy Banks, the school balances traditional values with modern innovations, such as its eTEC (entrepreneurship and technology) programme and a commitment to 100% green energy. While it remains a day school for younger years, it offers a graduated boarding model that becomes increasingly central to school life in Years 7 and 8, all while maintaining a warm, "country" feel near the Burnham Beeches nature reserve.

Caldicott school
Founded in 1904, Caldicott School is one of the United Kingdom’s most respected independent preparatory schools for boys aged 7 to 13, rooted in a rich heritage of academic excellence, character development, and pastoral care. Established by James Heald Jenkins and named in honour of his wife Theodora Caldicott Ingram, the school began with just 24 boys and has grown into a thriving community that blends tradition with forward-thinking education. Set in 40 acres of beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside, Caldicott offers a nurturing, supportive environment where curiosity, resilience and joy in learning are at the heart of daily life.
At Caldicott, we believe in educating the whole child. Our strong academic programme is designed to challenge and inspire, preparing boys for outstanding success in Common Entrance examinations and beyond, with an exceptional 100 % pass rate year after year. Alongside rigorous scholarship, we place equal emphasis on creative and physical pursuits: music, drama, the arts, and sport all play significant roles in building confidence and broadening horizons. Small class sizes allow our dedicated faculty to tailor learning and support each boy’s strengths, encouraging them to think independently, act courageously and grow with integrity.
Central to the Caldicott experience are our core values of perseverance, integrity, courage, compassion and humour, which permeate every aspect of school life. These guiding principles help shape young minds into well-rounded individuals equipped with empathy, resilience and moral character. We also offer flexible boarding options—from weekly and full boarding to Day Plus and flexi boarding—that foster independence while preserving that essential sense of warmth and belonging. Whether on the playing fields, in the classroom, or around the boarding house, our boys are supported to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
As a registered charity, Caldicott continues to invest in our campus, people and opportunities to ensure every boy’s potential can be realised, regardless of background. Through the Caldicott Foundation’s bursary programmes, we are committed to expanding access to our exceptional education and helping shape future generations of thoughtful, confident leaders.
